Oceans of Nothing
Nainoa and Misha Chun
No more sushi and no more seafood? That's what will happen if the over fishing problem stays intact. The declining fish amounts are a very sad sight to see and it's bad that the fishermen are taking too many fish out of the sea. Facts have shown that in a few years fish won't be existant and fishermen are over fishing and taking too much fish from out waters. Even the fish trade is becoming an expensive work since prices are all skyrocketing in order to get it caught and shipped out.
Fishermen are taking too much fish out of the sea and paying a heavy price for it. In the article it states that a man named Boris Worm, a marine biologist found out some shocking data. He and a team of 13 researchers in four countries have come to a stunning conclusion that by the middle of this century, fishermen will almost have nothing to catch. The mere thought of fish being inexistant and the fact that we might not be able to eat seafood again is a frightening thing to think of. It is a fisherman's job to catch fish but it shouldn't have to come to a big price like this. According to the article "Oceans of Nothing" about 90% of the oceans big predators-- like cod and tuna-- have been fished out of existence. It surprising to see how much seafood is gone and it's really disappointing. Fish is good food to eat and all but it's not worth to eat so much of it if we eat it all and won't be able to eat it in the future.
They say more is better and in this case they're wrong. More fish being sold does equal more money but that's LESS fish in the ocean and less fish to eat when time goes on. The declination of fish will be a huge downfall for not only the United States but for the rest of the world. People need to make a change or else we may never eat fish or any other seafood ever again.
