Act II Questions (Part 1 and Part 2)

Part I

  1. "If Duncan bleeds, I'll paint the guard's faces with the blood, because they must appear to be guilty of his murder." (Page 51 Lines 54-55) I do think Lady Macbeth is a cold-blooded murderer because she doesn't care that she's framing innocent people for such a bad deed. It's as if she has no guilt or mind of her own whatsoever if some kind of reward is involved.
  2. "A little water will clear us of this murder (by washing away the bloody evidence). It will all be so easy then ! Your usual firm will has deserted you." (Page 51 Lines 66-68) Lady Macbeth is already fine with what she had done and doesn't care for the rest. She faints to try and cover her tracks, and she does it well. She uses her acting skills to make everything more believable and it works, tricking a lot of the others.
  3. "Where is that knocking coming from? What is the matter with me that every noise terrifies me?" (Page 51 Lines 56-57) Macbeth's attitude changes because he eventually just begins to panic after killing the king. He was so loyal to him and once the deed had been done, he panicked so much, a lot of the other characters had become suspicious. Why had he suddenly killed the chamberlains? That stood out to a lot of the others and he's practically giving it away that he was involved with the murder.
  4. "If Duncan hadn't looked so much like my father as he slept, I would have murdered him myself." (Page 47 Lines 11-13) Lady Macbeth didn't kill the king because she said that he reminded her of her father as he slept. This could be because she'd feel too guilty if he looked like her own flesh and blood, but I feel like it was just so that if they were caught, she wouldn't be the one to be cause for actually killing king Duncan.
  5. I feel like now that he's killed the king, he will become more sloppy. If he thinks that someone is onto him, he'd probably just kill them and drive himself deeper into his own grave, is what I think. He's going to need some serious therapy or some sort of hypnotizing magic to help him out of the guilt that he has for killing the king. He's too mentally unstable at the moment.
